Rise early to observe the monks in their morning meal procession;you can participate by buying rice in a traditional basket and helping distribute it to the line of patient monks. That same day,head to the Pak Ou caves,where Buddha images have been carefully hidden in the limestone cliffs. On another day,take an excursion to Khouangsi Falls,where you will visit an Akha hill tribe village beneath the falls and enjoy a picnic lunch. From Luang Prabang,fly to the capital city of Vientiane for one night.

The fragmentation of the Lao kingdom at the end of the 16th century saw Luang Prabang become a militarily weak independent city state paying tribute to the surrounding kingdoms. Ultimately the 1887 sacking of the city by the Chinese Haw lead the Luang Prabang monarchy to accept the protection of the French,whose influence led to the construction of the many fine colonial villas that sit harmoniously alongside the traditional Lao architecture.

Lao way of life is very much influenced by the Buddhism as can be seen through the way that Lao people live and behave. They are taught to be patient and acceptance people. Buddhism was the only thing that bound people together and taught people to be good people and stay away from doing wrong things in the past when the law enforcement was not in place.An important festival in Laos is Boun Pha Vet celebrated once a year. This is a two day Buddhist festival that involves the entire community.

The city was formerly the capital of a kingdom of the same name. Until the communist takeover in 1975,it was the royal capital and seat of government of the Kingdom of Laos. The city is also notable as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Luang Prabang has both natural and historical sites. Among the natural tourism sites,there are the Kuang Si Falls and Pak Ou Caves. Tourists may also ride elephants. At the end of the main street of Luang Prabang is a night market where stalls sell shirts,bracelets,tea - suitable souvenirs. The Haw Kham Royal Palace Museum and the Wat Xieng Thong temple are among the most well known historical sites.
